I have a problem!

Postby Buzzard Wing » Sun Apr 24, 2005 10:56 pm

Not really sure what it is, but I keep gawking at farmer's fields and barns looking for tractors.
I go to auctions for entertainment and education (and to meet some awesome folks too). But this auction pushed me over the edge. More nice tractors and farm equipment than most people see in a lifetime.
So I have a new Cub. Just couldn't resist. She is #119918, and Donny M tells me that make her a 1950 model. So since my sister is also of the same vintage I decided (on the new Zakhim bridge in Boston) that my RED one is Cathy.
Sure is a nice one!

Got a skid of implements too, http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Bu ... 3ce717.jpg

Hope the yeller one likes the new girl in town.

I think I have that affliction also BW ! It's an addiction I'm certain. I think the only cure is a 12-step program.....you begin as you have...1st you have to admit you have a problem....then starts the therapy....meet with other people who are of like minds in group forums.....then, acquire Cubs in various forms of disrepair...fix them up...until you own 12 of them!!!...you're cured !!!....(maybe?)

BW Good looking tractor. It looks like several pieces of equipment came with it. I see a sickle mower but what other pieces did you get? Dan

Got a bit of the low down yesterday when picking it up. Owned by an older gent in St Albans, VT (my good friend's hometown) that got a new mower and didn't need the Cub anymore. He said it was a good runner and everything was ok when it came in this winter.
Nearest I can figure; woods finish mower, full set of cultivators (??) homemade spud hiller(?) and a front mount plow.

Float or something stuck in the carb so its not running, so I may swap out the carb off the yeller one or just take this one off and see if I can clear the float valve or float.

There was 4 Cubs in the auction, I got the pick of the litter!

Problem??? I never really thought of that. Is that why I have 13 Cubs? Amazing the things we learn here. :D

BW,

So what's the problem? I live in a small city subdivision and have several Cub Cadets (the number can vary at any given time), a '49 Cub, a '66 Cub Lo-Boy, an 18' trailer (just in case), and the only one I can really "use" is the Cub Cadet I mow with, and with the obstacles in the yard I can probably do that faster with a push mower..........but I don't see a problem :D

Tractor addiction

Postby Dave F. » Mon Apr 25, 2005 11:12 am

I think this tractor addiction stuff must effect guy's more than girl's I got my wife a cub-low boy all of her own, The tractor bug / Virus hasn't effective her one bit, on the other hand I have 2-running cub's which are work tractors & 2 parts cubs between the two I could have one more running tractor. then comes along this Big Case 430 tractor with an loader that follows me home, let alone about 4 riding tractors that have inhabed(sp) the place. I guess this tractor addiction leaves you after you been in the ground 3 days. Dave F.

I figured that if I went without the trailer to the auction I would need it, guess I was right.
The Ford hay rake fit in the truck as did the implements, but there was no way I could have fit the Cub and the implements in the truck.

Lots of travelling over the weekend.

The rain stopped and the sun came out as I rolled into the dealers lot..... and the BUZZARDS were circling as I came into St Albans. A good omen indeed! Buzzards on the wing wishing me well!

I think I paid a fair price....$1700. Plus 100 tax.

The carb problem seems to have disappeared.... guess it acted up so I could get a deal?? Possibly the 350 mile ride freed it up? She fires up good and the hydraulics work. Bit of an odd noise from the transmission with nothing running. Too tired to do much else. I still have the yeller one in the works, so that is a priority over the old new one.
Thanks for your kind words and best wishes.

Could it be that it is not a problem, but a very good thing??? Me thinks so!
