What should a 151 rear mounted plow disc measure with little use?
Thanks, Kirk

26" diameter would be a new disc size.

It will work effectively down to about 21" to 22".

I know of a couple good used disc's if you need one. (Not mine)

On the 151, there are 2 issues to look for besides the disc size.

Take a copy of the manual and make sure you get ALL the parts. There are a lot of them, very hard to find, and it is worthless without ALL of them.

Secondly, check the bearing play. If the disc is worn down, the bearing will too. the 151 has a chilled disc bearing, not a Timken. It is an oblong stub that fits into a polished socket. The bearing retainer should have a felt gasket to prevent dirt getting inside.

If you grab the disc and there is much play, disassemble the bearing and inspect it. It can be replaced with the Timken kind, off a 152, and it can also be packed with grease impregnated rags (stop-gap measure)

For modern use (not plowing 30 acres a year) it will work and last your lifetime even with a worn chilled bearing.

Will check that and already downloaded a copy of the manual to have on hand. Thanks Dale

Dale is right, make sure you get all of the correct pieces. For example, the brace in the rear uses a "spacer bar". It appears in the pictures to be a standard drawbar, but the spacer bar is shorter than the standard drawbar. A typical drawbar will not work.

Mine has the chilled bearing and it had some wear, but I had a machine shop correct most of the play.

Todd, you are correct on the 152 mid mount.

However, he is asking about the 151 pull type.

I bought a set of 26" disc at Leinbach Machinery in NC. If you don't find something closer let me know and I will get you in touch with them.

I was able to pick up two disc last week. They came off of a Super A trailer plow. The best one was 24" so I should be good to go for a long time. I have two about 22" and one a little smaller. The owner is keeping the wheel and three rib tire that's on it. The rest is going on the scale . The bearings were stuck btw. :(

How many holes? Doesn't the A use five bolts instead of the four for the Cub?

They are 26", but are they 4 bolt, and do they have the proper concavity and thickness as a plow disc?

Scrivet, they were 4 hole, just like the Cub. The bearing assembly was different.

Was there a pull disc plow made for the farmall A? If so what's the difference between the one for the A and the cub? Are there different part numbers that are located on the plow that I could look up? Don't want to buy something I can't use.

Yes, Different plows for both tractors. Cub had one disc, A, SA had two. A Cub harrow plow had two disc, but was intended for harrowing, not plowing. Didn't get any numbers off the SA plow, wish I had.
