If I recall correctly, there was a thread a while back (well...quite a while back) that showed a how-to for retrofitting the pancake lights with the teardrop reflector. I looked in the how-to section under electrical, and cannot seem to find it.
Thanks for any help you all can give...
Retrofitting pancake light thread?

Re: Retrofitting pancake light thread?
I see those are in the sheet metal forum. I will move them to the ignition/electrical forum to cause less confusion.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

Dan, do you have any pics of how you wired and fit yours into those housings?

Re: Retrofitting pancake light thread?
No pics showing the details, and it has been a few years since this was done.
Seems there was a couple of glass tabs on the back side of the bulb near the outer edge that I had to grind down some with a high speed grinder. I was successful in doing this without breaking either of the bulbs. The screw lugs on the back were pressed down as close to the back of the bulb as possible. Two wraps of electrical tape around the outer edge of the bulb to hold it tight in the housing. The existing hole in the back of the pancake housing was plugged with a plumbers rubber plug cap like you see on some new fittings etc. A smaller hole allowing the wires to exit the pancake housing. I don't remember needing any other insulating material between the bulb screws and the back of the housing. I could be wrong though.
This was done in 2005 and they continue to work great yet today.
