It may be that since the serial range involved was the end of the red Cub era and the yellow and white were getting ready to roll they just used up what red parts they had and put the white hoods on them. They might have figured there was no sense in painting a bunch of hoods. If nobody wanted the red and white combo the dealer could then paint the hood. There again, speculation since there is no documentation.

I don't think most manufactures would discuss with the public how they use up left over parts.

That sort of thing can happen. They could have had a car load or two on the receiving end of some strange shipping or storage incident that required replacement hoods or fuel tanks.

Boss,
The 1964 Farmall Cub we had a few years ago was a 12V with S/N 2244XX J.

Came from PA. Other than the fan shroud, the tractor was red down to bare metal. The hood was definitely white.

Funny how bits of this conversation went missing.... but the internet has a long memory and they did not completely disappear.

Without a doubt, there were about 303 red and white Cubs made. They were 12V and the LAST 'Farmall' Cubs made.

I know where two are within 4 miles, one from a local dealer and the one I just brought back from NH. The 'correct police' are welcome to DNA samples from 224660 by appointment. The hood, grille, lights and the wheels (rear centers) are white. If the hoods got swapped out, they would be more likely to have an 'International' sticker on them and red headlights. The red square-nose Farmalls (6v) were all red (white grille??).

I remember one being at BigDogs in '05 with a fresh respray, and one sold here earlier this spring. Have the serial somewhere.
