Finally found the picture of the SN plate on the red/white Farmall pictured and I was wrong. It's 22443X J. It was delivered at Brinley Garage, an IH dealer in the big city. Pretty sure it hasn't been off the island since it left KY in 1964.

Seems to all fit! They were red and white before they were yeller and white. Makes sense, Farmalls are red!

Any reports of a yeller Farmall??

This is becoming an interesting posting. I , like others, had no idea this was ever a paint scheme. I can see it however, as I'm sure they didnt buy their paint by the gallon... and would have certainly used red until it was gone, and I am with Buzzard...i wouldnt be surprised to see either a yellow farmall, or a red international (from the same time frame)

But the Data base could be wrong

That is why I copied right from the parts book (TC-37F 9-70). Pretty clear that 704 is included with the "and below"

well most likely the data base is wrong then, which in turn made me wrong[ and that is a rarity :D ] But I am all but positive that the white hoods are factory

I doubt you will ever be able to settle whether 224704 was just before or just after the change. I believe I have seen IH source documents each way. That is why the ATIS FAQ notes the discrepancy.

I guess Boss needs to find them both! :D

I worked on a Cub for a fellow I knew, about 20 years ago it was the first Cub I had ever seen with the white hood and body was red. It was 12 volt and Farmall decals and McCormick Farmall serial plate.
When I asked him about the tractor he told me he had purchased it new. It had not been repainted and this fellow was not going to spend any money he did not need to anyway.
I thought back then it was kind of odd and that maybe he was pulling my chain but now after belonging to this forum and learning more I am sure he was telling the truth. If I had asked I sure he would have sold it to me instead of trading it for a John Deere rider.
Oh the shame, I dream of the one that got away, slipped through my fingers before I was educated.

Wouldn't be the first time IH had some undocumented mutant tractors during major production changes. Case in point, 1952 Farmall Ms with factory disk brakes.

So the all-red square noses are 6V Farmalls with serials <224401?

This has to be one of the biggest discoveries in the Cub world in years!

I kinda doubt that as the reason since they had a couple other models of tractors they sold that they painted red also.
I would SPECULATE more along the lines of the part of the plant that made and painted the hood/gas tank switched to white sooner than the main line switched to yellow. Who knows, could have been a mechanical breakdown on the paint sprayer for the hoods and since they were going to switch to white next week/month anyway no since in having to clean the red paint out of the new one to switch to white. Or maybe Charlie was the only guy that messed with the sprayers and he couldn't redo the hood sprayer and the main line sprayer at the same time and keep everything else running. Or maybe Gertrude in purchasing ordered white paint for the hood department a little to soon and the guys on the line just bolted on whatever showed up. Or maybe...............

Or maybe since they were still Farmall Cubs and they had been red from the beginning. I H knowing they were changing to International Cubs, the company wanting to get the public
familiar with the new colors decided to send some out with white hoods to test the market.

The Lo Boy's had white hoods at that time.

My 64 International's (224929 and 225036) have a 'Farmall' serial number tag... and white hoods.
