I talked to Darrel Darst today, and he told me he uses white canvas duck and after it is crimped in place he then coats it with the silver compoundl, which is the same way IH idid it.

John:

Looks like the simplest way is just to send Darrell the seat :!:   :D

That will probably be the route I go when I am ready. The tie on pad will do for now :D

John, What kind of compound is used for the seat?

It would have to be something waterproof and stay flexable
Take a little time to play, you don't grow old as fast that way.

I asked that question and he was reluctant to say. He stated he had spent a lot of time researching it and, and it gave him an edge on doing authintic restorals. I understand his position, under similar circumstances I would feel the same.

Rudi, if you want to send your seat to Darrell right away, you could have him return it to me, and it could accompany the mower to your place. That would save some of the border headaches (or are those pains in a lower part of the body). Likewise if you think you can make it to Cubarma, we could do pretty much the same thing. If you want it relayed form Cubfest make sure he knows I will be leaving June 15 so ti will be sure to get here in time.

John:

The seat is going to have to wait. It is not high on my list of priorities at the moment, and when I do decide to get it done, then I will have them both done at the same time -- easier I think.

And I understand and appreciate Darrell's view on this. He is offering a specific service and if it is indead a faithful restoration, then he should be able to keep it as his Secret Recipe. After all if it was good enough for the Colonel, it should be the same for him :!: :D

Tell him thanks, and when I can, I shall send him my seats. We will figure out the return then.

Thanks btw for all you are doing with the mower. I really appreciate. Y'all are top flight you know :!: :D :D

The Ultra Secret Compund.....

Postby SundaySailor » Fri May 20, 2005 11:22 am

Comes straight from the Silver Ducks's back. See, when they take their bill and move it under their feathers, they smear that secret formula all over their feathers. It not only helps make the feathers nice and shiny, but it helps make them water proof, and actually helps them to float. That my friends keeps them on top of all the feces that come from our gesticulation diatribes! 8) :D :)

Now then, I"ve been told that the Silver Ducks (also used in making Duck Tape) are now being heavily guarded. Since it takes a baker's dozen to make just one roll of Duck tape, they are now on the endangered list.

hehehehehe!

Though trillions and trillions of eyes have been watching the skies for as long as human memory exists, no gods nor angels have been seen or documented outside of religion. The number of spaceships being sighted however has become much more prevalent.
