Early Christmas for my wife

'52 Farmall Cub. Not a full up accurate restoration, but seems to be quite functional. No welds that I can find. Engine is strong, clutch is fine. Need to replace the rubber gas line with steel. Hydraulics seem a bit slow/jerky, but function. Rear tires are rotting, but I do have a line on another cub that had the tires replaced just before it was parked....

Came with a 123a disc that needs a bit of work and a Woods 42C-4 that I took apart yesterday for bearing replacement and painting.

Looking to add a set of mid-mount cultivators for the garden next.

First, it was something she wanted - she loves to mow, and will mow our yard twice a week with a Super-Z. I have to be quick if I want to mow the yard. She really likes old iron and I recently rebuilt her grandmother's Detroit Jewel gas stove for our cabin. This cub will work at the farm around the cabin much better than the bigger tractor.

Barnyard, I wouldn't want to impose on anyone, but I do hope to bring it along in Feb.

John, trust me, you won't be imposing on anyone. At most Cubfests you have to hold the guys back or they will dive right in. That fella at Jeff's CubFest a couple of weeks ago only came to ask a few questions, He didn't know what to think when he ended up with guys working on the steering, guys working on the seat and even had guys working in between. It's not a Cubfest if you don't have a Cub to work on!

Great looking Cub. I definitely like the gray wheels, not the usual but then I don't think every cub has to look the same. Is there something in the precleaner jar? Surely you don't have that much dirt build up. Another gas related item to consider besides the rubber line is getting a new free gas cap from IH if you haven't already ordered one.

John, I hadn't thought of a Detroit Jewell stove in years. When Mother gave up her old wood cook stove, a Home Comfort brand, she got a Detroit Jewell. She cooked many a meal on the Detroit Jewell. I remember it well. Thanks for the flashback.

Scrivet, yep, there is oil in the jar. The older fella that fixed this one up said it was supposed to be a wet precleaner and I didn't argue with him. A little research later taught me it should be dry, so I figured to wait until I brought it home to empty the jar.

Man. And we used to have a toaster like that. I often wonder what happpened to some of that stuff. When Daddy bought her a Maytag wringer washer with gas engine for the power source after the war, she turned the wash pot upside down, and that was that. We still used it to scald hogs. All that sort of stuff was evidently discarded when we moved to town. Thanks again for the memories.
