Ok, so I very carefully finished installing "all" the valve keepers, adjusted the valves, set the timing with the head off to be sure I had exactly TDC, systematically reinstalled all the components, checked the points, plug everthing back in, put the temporay fuel tank on, charged the battery and tried to fire it up. Wouldn't start. Fuel dripping out of the carb. Disappointed, I left for the night. First thing this morning I did a search on leaking Carbs and found a post that said "that's why there is a weep hole in the carb." and another suggesting "check the suction at the carb.". Back to the shop. K I S S Keep It Simple Stupid. Compression perfect all cylinders. Timing perfect. Suction at carb. perfect. Points perfect. Firing Order NOT SO GOOD. Runs fine once I put the spark plug wires in the correct order. Govoner linkage sticky and carb and linkage need adusting, but what a sweet sound to have it back running on all 4 cylinders again. Thank you for your help on the keepers but more inportantly for such a great resource at farmallcub.com.

makes you feel good when it is your first time doing a major repair and it fires up, don't it. Sometimes it is even a surprise.

I popped out the valves the other night and had the same thing happen to me. Found only one keeper on a few stems and I was confused as if one even had a keeper till I saw it was stuck in the spring. I plugged all gaps with paper towels so I would loose any through.
Good thing I keep all parts, I have extras from a previous rebuild.
Glad to hear you got it started.
