no full throttleMy friend just called. Landline. 1976 Cub says the throttle lever is difficult to push. It had been working fine, but i used it several months ago and felt it was awfully "stiff". told him to check the illustration breakdown in his Cub book. I not sure of the internals of the Govenor. Is there a possibility of binding

Re: no full throttleThe rockshaft on the governor is most likely sizing up. Rudi if you would post a pic of it.
You will need to spray some liquid wrench or your favorite penetrating oil on it it may free up. if not you may have to take it off and clean it up. Boss IN GOD WE TRUST

Re: no full throttleLarry, a lot of times I have had the lever (#11) bind up on the shaft (#12) due to rust. Take your linkage loose and see if ithe leverturns on the shaft.

Re: no full throttleYep that is the bugger! I had one seize up so bad that even with penetrating oil I could not free it up. I ended up busting it and had to remove the Gov. cover and grind it off. Once you get it free lubricate, lubricate, lubricate. For you have to remove the distributor to time it correctly when you replace the Gov cover. Learn from my mistake.

Re: no full throttleI listened to you guys about breaking the shaft, so I spent about a month with penetrating oil and gentle persuasion to break mine loose on the parts tractor. It would have had to have been welded to have been tighter. This one sounds like some penetrating oil will do it wonders.
