Me to Boss. I am pretty sure it had the original hood and original paint and decals on it when I bought it. But, I bought it in 1991 and the po's could have changed the hood out, but I don't think so.

I know a fellow that just prefers the long stripe sticker....
I will have to look to see if mine has the 'oil holes' in the hood....

Completely original 77 longstripe. Generator oiling holes, but no hood ornament. SN 251102.

they only made 518 at the most 75 cubs that were the new and improved International cubs so it is highly possible that some had the old hoods on them

I think that square look that they liked so much in the later years led to their demise.

Yea, that didn't help any. I remember the trucks and scouts and thought they were ugly, everything they made had that square grille.

Yep Boss! I don't like white trucks, but judging by how many are around, seems to make me a minority.
My first Cub was yeller and sour milk..... but it has started, nearly always the first time for 6 years, always done what I wanted to and I surely would not trade it for any red Cub... Except a long stripe one.
Don, just looked at the hood of my 77 and it does have oil holes. (wouldn't have bet on that one)

This is getting very interesting, We may be able to narrow down when the change occurred

I think the grille color may have been part of the change, from white to black.

And yours looks to have an original white grille.
I'll have to dig up some info on my (2) 1975 models and my (3) Longstripes, and see what I've got. I think the 1975 models are well before longstripe, but will analyize them too.
So far, what I am going to look for is....Hood Ornament, Oiling Holes, Black/White Grille. Is that right?? Anything else?

Wish I had looked closer at the 75 a lady was looking to sell. But the skeeters and poison ivy kept me from gawking too much. It did have a key start and relay under the platform, didn't notice the carb. No sticker on the hood and it was not a long stripe.
I think the key items are the alternator (with OEM connectors and no VR) and a Zenith carb with a rubber air tube and choke cable. Hood and grille are very easily swapped around.
It's actually a bit of a problem. Little of the long stripe 'stuff' is in the parts book.
