Hi folks!
Just bought a pretty sweet Cub! Not a trailer queen but very complete with no cracks or welds. Came with a Leinbach Fast Hitch York rake, snow plow, complete tested extra electrical system 6v, extra carb, 2 sets of chains, extra new repro battery box...not the good one but oh well, Cub has new tires...9.5 US made.
It doesn't have the mesh grill, when did the Cubs go with the 4 bar grill.
Also has a fast hitch, but the depth control is next to the fender, not behind the seat. When did IH make that change? It is also yellow.

Looks good!
The grilles changed in Nov 1954 to the 11 bar grille, then changed to the 4 bar grille in Jun 1958. The 4 bar was then used till Aug 1963 until the square noses came out.
The depth control was always beside the fender, but the style did change from a lever to the crank handle that your have. This change was in the mid '50s, but I don't know exactly when.

Thanks Raymond....will probably keep the grill on. Am amped about her. Solid sheet metal and the guy who owned her is a maintenance freak.....so well cared for. Has a dealer decal,too...sat on a green dealer lot a long time ago....poor thing. I'll get casting numbers for the data base. Chris

I recently got one like that as well. It's got a big JD dealer sticker right under the PTO. Have to fix that first!

Thanks!

The 4 bar grill was also used as a replacement for damaged grills. Most likely the wire mesh that came on it got messed up or rusted, and it was replaced.

Congratulations Chris. When we have the CubFest, we'll get it over here by trailer, or, even better, 3-4 miles of "road time".
Then we can have the "Farmall Correct Police" do a complete inspection !!!

BF Goodrich...can't believe it! Real nice tires 9.5x24's...front tires need to go
David...yeah real nice fasthitch...a lot of positives with this Cub...not a 75 long stripe, but should be a big help plowing and harrowing. Then I can set up my other two Cubs for cultivating and planting.
Thanks Bill and Jim Perry for the regards!
Chris
