Farmall Cub

Dick, that is an IH heat houser for a Cub. They have been out of production for years. There was a member here sometime back who was making metal cabs for Cubs up in Michigan, but I haven't seen them around for a while either.

Do you suppose someone may demo one of these at the DSCF this winter?

Is the IH "heat houser" the blanket thing or the metal/glass enclosure. I'm impressed most by the blanket! Would like to think that thing goes back to the seat and wraps around the driver, bringing heat and comfort to the snow plow guy.

Dick, the glass and blanket are all part of the heat houser or windbreaker. Here is a closer look at the one Phil Lenke had.

An unusual thing, I'm thinking, for the Cub...but I like it. Here in western Massachusetts, I only rarely run into stiff winds when I need to snow plow. Usually it is still air. Once I get the tractor running, it warms up and keeps on going. Thinking that the carb, sediment bowl, oil dip stick must all be difficult to get at; and that the blanket might need a cleaning after a winter. But still I find it fascinating. How do you get on / off the tractor -- does a side swing open?

I recall days with a snowblower in New Hampshire where the wind would turn the blown snow right back into my face. So I like this Cub in a blanket! Thanks.

It is designed to keep the operator warm, not the tractor. It directs the engine heat to the cab.

The blanket is held on by a strap across the hood. Remove the strap and the carb and such are easily accessible.

Swing a leg over the back of the seat and plop down. Not so easy with a deluxe seat.

There is one across the street in the neighbors old barn that was given to me a few years back, but I've never went and got it. It'll take some doings to get it as it is sitting up in the rafters. Would be neat to have for a conversation or show peice. It looks like the offwhite and blue one pictured. Not sure if it fits a Cub, but I can't imagine anything bigger that the guy owned.
