'49 doesn't move and won't go into some gears

I have a similar problem to candylands locked wheels. My 49 was moved fine as of Thursday. It ended up sitting out over night until this morning. I went to move it, and it wouldn't move. I assumed the tires froze to the ground, but I lifted each corner with a 2x4 and they were free from the ground. I tried moving it in first and reverse but it doesn't go. I went to put it in second and it won't go into second at all and doesn't seem to lock in to 3rd. This is something I haven't dealt with before. I would call my grandfather, but first thing he will say is "Where did you park it?" He gets fired up if I leave it out :x

If it was cold enough for the tires to freeze to the ground you may have a frozen trans. Pull the top off the trans and take a look inside. If you see it frozen then take the drain plug out and put a heat lamp on the transmission to see if a water/oil mix comes out. Try to wrap a tarp around to keep any cold air from blowing around it.

When you get the top off and if it isn't froze then see if the shifting forks are in neutral or will go into neutral.

Thanks I'll check it. It was about 20 last night, but going to 45 this afternoon. Hopefully, if it warms up, I can get it back in the barn.

If it does move after it warms up then you most likely have water in the trans. You might as well drain and flush at that point before it freezes when you need it.

Yup, sounds like you got water in the tranny.

If it doesn't warm up enough, cover the tranny as best you can with a tarp and then hang a 100 watt bulb near the tranny, it will warm it up enough in a couple hours to move it.

When you get the cover off also make sure you don't have the tractor in two gears at once.

It sounds like that might be part of the problem:

"Won't go into 2nd" probably because it's already in 2nd.
"Won't move in 1st or reverse" probably because it's already in 2nd.
"Won't lock into 3rd" probably because it's already in 2nd.

Can you remember what gear it was in when you shut it down before you had the problem? Betcha it was 2nd.
