Farmall Cub to a IH Cub ?

Postby countershaft » Sat May 07, 2005 9:39 pm

What year did the Farmall Cub become the Internatioal Cub ? I know they kept them red for some time , but then, when did they go yellow and white ?

The Farmall name was completely dropped from the standard Cub in '64. Paint is less clear-cut because dealers could order either color as a regular option for many years.

Similar question, when was McCormick dropped? I like the stickers Scotty put on his Cub, but would it be correct on a later year, like 50? (very long way before I need to worry about it)

If I am reading Guy Fay's and Andy Kraushaar"s book Farmall Letter Series Tractors correctly, The first hood decals read McCormick- Deering Farmall with the word Cub inside a circle, on the doglegs. In July 1947 the "circle Cub" was dropped and the word Cub was added to the hoodside decal.

In either July or September 1949 (depending on what page in the book you are reading because both dates are given), the Deering name was dropped, and the decal read McCormick Farmall Cub.

In May of 1954, that decal was elimiinated, and the stainless steel hood emblems began.

I might add that this was for domestic and Canadian Cubs, other export Cubs had decals of various combinations of the McCormick-Deering and Farmall/International name.

The early 64 year cubs were McCormick Farmall, the later ones were International.

On a side note it's impossible to find the side stickers for a early 64 farmall cub. The were only made for part of a year and unique. No other year had them. Also, no one is reproducing them. I want to repaint my cub, but the stickers are not available. You can see the stickers in the picture. Sorry for the large picture.

You might try another dealer. I have a pair that I got just a couple of months ago, from my Cub Cadet dealer. When I asked them to check the IH part number (2 751 849 R1), they had 2 in stock that had been ordered for someone and never picked up. But at least the number was still in either the Case IH or Cub Cadet system. There are a number of Cub items available through Cub Cadet dealers. Just take them an IH P/N for the item and let them check it, you might be surprised.

Not as impossible as you might think. Carter & Gruenewald has them listed on their web site. Part Number 2751849R1. $7.50 each.

I just checked the Carter & Gruenewald site, and they are listed for $7.50 each. Either go to C & G website and search for the P/N 2751849 or try this link http://www.cngco.com/Search.cfm

Hi Randy

I have a 64 cub #223744 I was wondreing where mine compares to the one you have in the picture. As far as I can tell mine was originally yellow and I scraped off three different stickers. But as two were painted over I could now tell what they were.

Thanks Billy
Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you. 1964 cub. Farmall 100 and 130.

I may have gotten the last two in stock at C&G ... but they can get more. They were $7.50 ea.
Not the best picture, but here is how my hood came out with the stickers in place.

My grandfather bought it new back in 64 and that was the color it came. Thats the original paint. Though a little rusty. I have since added the fast hitch, fh rollover plow, fh disc, fh rotavator since I've had it and i'm still looking for a fh flail mower in good condition. I'll have to look at the serial number and get back with you. I don't remember it off the top of my head.

mine reads
McCormick
Farmall Cub

not:
International
Farmall Cub.

Like I said it's a unique sticker.

According to the TC-37F parts manual, and the decal listing on C & G's web site, the McCormick Farmall Cub decal as shown on Randy's Cub picture was used on tractor serial numbers 222501 to 224704. The "standard color" may have been red, and most you see are red, but like Jim said, the dealer could order what ever available color the customer wanted.

I have updated the cub decal listing on our site for the Cub. To see this online go to:

http://www.cngco.com/oem.decals.html

I have been investigating the Cub decals for the next International Cub and numbered Lo-Boy (154-185-184) originality book (its coming.....be patient!!!!!) and it is very confusing!!!
