IH Cub Power Unit

In the past I purchased a Cub power unit ser.#64HTC252 9 and used the motor for my Cub. I want to get rid of the remaining parts, the tank, radiator, stand and the reduction part. The reduction appears to be 2.3 to 1. Does anyone have more info on this unit and the possible value. I don't know what it came off of.
Thanks Sam

It probably came from a hay baler, if it has a right angle shaft and pulley assembly. I have a couple of them, one on a buzz saw, and one on a corn grinder. Ed

G'day to you and glad you have joined the family
Check the PM that I sent you. I also have a Power Unit - mostly the same parts as you have. Price depends on the condition of the parts and if there are any cracks at all, any pin holes, leaks etc.,. Without pics it is hard to determine the value. Boss is probably in the right ballpark.

Boy, I have a complete running power unit and I certainly would never let the whole thing go for 150. I thought they went for an average of 350-500???? The engine alone should've been worth 300-500. Has the economy gone downhill that much??? Buying cub parts on the for sale section and ebay don't reflect a poor economy that much
stuff is still selling at premium prices.

The 64HTC in the serial number says it came from a model 64 combine. Gear reduction should take it down around 540 RPM.

I just assumed that since Sam used the engine for his cub, it was a good running engine and the power unit was complete before he took it apart. Guess we need more facts on if it was complete and running. I always get into trouble when I assume

Hi again,
The power unit had a running engine which I removed and put on the Cub. There is no engine on the unit at this time. The reduction shaft is straight out the back with a large and small V pulleys in it. The bell housing still has the throw-out bearing arrangement with lever control, but I'll need to check on finding where I put the clutch. Thanks on the info that it probably came from a combine.
Thanks, Sam

Biggest problem is (based on my power unit) radiator is different (won't fit standard cub), tank is seperate unit, etc., so unless you need the parts to build a power unit they aren't usable! ???? Dusty B

Hi Dusty,
You are absolutely correct! The tank and radiator and some of the small parts along with the reduction are only pieces that will work on a power unit. It is prudent that I hang on to my old motor and the pieces that will fit my Cub.
Thanks, Sam

The power unit may have used some stuff off a farmall A. You might want to check into that. I got a radiator shourd off one that I thought would fit a cub and it was too big.

Running power unit, I agree with Rick 300 to 500. Other than the motor not much will work on a cub.

Very little will work there either. The radiator for example has the lower outlet on the wrong side.
