Govenor Problem?

Engine RPM's will gradually keep speeding up w/o moving the throttle lever - What would cause that? Weak govenor spring? Sticky weights? Help?? Open for suggestions. Thanks, Dusty B

All of the above, but I think it may be a pin sheared in the governor. I have had many to do exactly as you have described

I presume you have already made sure all the external linkage and pivot points are free. If they are gummed up or binding in anyway it may be the cause of a slow or delayed increase in rpm. With the engine off, all linkage must be free moving, the shaft to the governor must rotate freely within reason and the arm on top of the governor must be free moving when not obstructed by the spring or throttle rod.
