Big Winter Storm - Round 2

Within 4 days, we've had two snow storms of 10"-12" each (again, no comparison to you guys up in NE, just saying for around here, that's unusual). Last week's snow was lighter due to the colder temperatures, but yesterday's was wet and heavy (temp around 30-32 degrees F all day). Tree limbs were bowed over, some broke; roofs collapsed and electricity was off for thousands. Our power went off from 4AM-6AM, so the Lord blessed us with having the power go off at a time of day when we were in bed anyway.

Nellie performed well, although the snow's compacting nature did produce some difficult manuvering and a got stuck a couple times. Overall, she did a fine job for me and several neighbors. Here's some more pics, you'll notice they look a lot like the ones posted last week, just more of it.















Hope this is the LAST big snow storm of the winter!

They don't. They felt, shall we say, cooped up. Egg production was way down...as would be expected.

Since they won't come out onto the snow (experience from years past), this winter I've been putting a tarp down, then removing the tarp w/snow. It works great for snows of lesser amounts. That tarp has about 10" of wet heavy snow on it! I need to get in there and dig enough out to be able to pull it out. Ugh!

I know that all that snow has got to a pain to deal with but it sure is pretty.

The thing about snow is not always how much you get, but how much you are prepared to receive! 2 inches in Atlanta is a MUCH bigger problem than 30 inches in Skowheagan, Maine! Glad to see some of it falling in areas that need the moisture. Hope that corner has turned. Cold rain here today. Glad the snow piles are shrinking, especially in the city streets where there was just no place to put the stuff.
