Just got back from picking up a 1950 cub! Needs a lotta work, but she runs ok & is gonna get put to work this summer. Grandpa had one & I always wanted one. Just gonna work on it a little along. Worst thing is some dummy cut a 12"x12" hole in the hood trying to mount the alternator. Glad to have her, though! :-)

Welcome to the forum from Arkansas. Yep, cutting hood use to be common around here also. The folks on this forum can show how it's done without having to cut the side out.
And yep, you got one, to do a little bit to, you'll see how much that little cub will grown and pull and work, and, well, the fever will hit ya, and you'll want another, and so on and so on.
But, it's fun!

Thanks! Proud to have finally joined the club. It's been just like I figured it would. Everyone has been more than helpful, giving of their time, and full of useful advice. I've gotten the adjustment bolts replaced on all of the plow feet. Coming along, just a little slow. Lol. If nothing else though, I can use it in the garden this year & work on it in the fall.

Congrats. Sounds like you've got a good plan. It's always more fun if you can use them then work on them. I'd suggest going through the fluids and tune-up, then put her to work. Once you plow some dirt, feel that engine bog down a bit then the governor kick in, a little puff of smoke, and she starts turning a furrow, you'll see just how much she can do and how much fun it is. There will be no looking back after that.

I'd watch the for-sale section or place a want ad for a replacement hood now. There are a couple of tractors being parted out on there now. Thing is, if you get a hood now, and get it sanded, painted, etc., over the summer, then in the fall when you decide to start working on her, you can just toss the old one and will already have a new one sitting ready to go.

Welcome! If you're anything like me you'll enjoy very much. I prefer the old Cubs to the to the newer machines, they're just so "down home" if you know what I mean.
