Steering Arm Help

How do I go about replicating the tapered hole that the steering arm lock bolt goes into? Thanks

thomas , i do not know how a home shop would do that . maybe one of our cubbers with a machinist backround could think of a "home brewed" way to do it . coppersmythe.............................................

I believe George Willer had made a tapered reamer for that, but all of that requires a pretty good machine shop both to make the reamer with the original taper, and then making the hole at the correct angle. Unless ou intend to do it on a regular basis it is cheaper to buy another spindle. Many of the people on the site will have them. If the bolt is broken off in yours, just insert a punch in the hole on the back side and tap it out.

PO replaced the tapered bolt with a large set screw. I needed to replace the arm. Set screw broke off. Looks like he may have drilled and tapped the spindle. So it's shot unless I do what he did and I'm not doing that. So off to the wanted section I go
