Farmall Cub

Belt pulley housing. Is that the screw behind the fan? It says 1/3 Pt of gear oil. Where do I drain it? When I drained the Steering gear box a quart came out. But the book says 3/4 Pt. Which one is it? 1951 Farmall cub

So number 3 I just put a couple of drops of oil. The other one I don't have. I guess I better drain half of the gear oil out of the steering box.

Yup, if you don't have it, you don't need to lubricate it

How much did you put in there - the whole quart? If so, then probably.

This is a prime example of why I am always repeating the same mantra over and over again ... RTM Read The Manual before anyone starts mucking about with their Cub. It was one of the first things my mentors taught me way back when, George Willer, Albie, Big Dog, Jim Becker and John Puckett. Their advice back then applies equally as well today.

So, suggest you have a park with a cup of coffee, a comfy chair and the Owner's Manual. Read it thoroughly then when absorbed go out to your Cub and apply that newly gained knowledge. Print of the Lub guides, maintenance schedules and then start with item # 1 on your list, go from there.

It's the one the book says it is. Water gets into the steering gear box so you may have more than normal in there.

I did the rear axel,Trans.,steering box.greased all fittings. Put new Radiator and anti freeze. New plugs points & voltage regulator and belts. Tommorow I'm going to drop oil pan and clean screen. Front wheel bearing cleaned and packed. Is all I'm waiting on is the wireing harness. What else should I do?

Prime the oil pump.

How do I prime oil pump. I fill oil filter container. When changing. But never dropped oil pan before.

Do you currently have oil pressure? If so you don't need to prime it.

To prime it, squirt oil in the hole located just under the filter top. You should be good to go then.

Thanks! I have oil pressure. But the bottom of oil pan has a dent and the gasket is leaking. If I can't straighten the bottom. I will get new one.

I would not worry about the dent as long as it hasn't distorted the gasket surface. You say you have oil pressure so if it were hitting any thing you would know by now.
