Cub Fenders & Repair

Postby PVF1799 » Sat Mar 23, 2013 7:55 pm

Hi All - There is an interesting occurrence with our well aged fenders. It appears that overtime something has gotten behind the band iron and expanded out in places to nearly 5/8" on the left fender. In some places the band ion is TIGHT to the fender - like where it bolts to the final drive. In other places it's rusted away to paper thin.

Can someone validate this idea and or present alternatives. I'd like to make a pattern of the band iron. Remove the band iron from the fender with grinder/torch, repair the fender with braising rod, Mig Weld the newly made band iron to the fender....

Best regards and as always thank you, Ken

Thanks Boss - Are the fenders out there the same quality as the originals? Do you recommend a supplier?

don't think you will find new ones, only originals removed from parted out tractors.

Many of the fenders are still nearly perfect with no rust. I am pretty sure some of our members up in your area have some, If not, several of us have them that can be shipped. I have a few sets.

$125 each.

If you are dead set on reproductions, Hamilton Bob (one of our sponsors) sells them for $112.00 each
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks Brendan, I just bought this set - I could not fix mine for $68 all-in cost of this pair. I looked at eBay last evening till I was blurry eyed and did not see this pair.

This forum is an invaluable resource - thanks, thanks and thanks again.
