Well the weather was finally nice enough for me to pick up the backhoe portion and yes it's a D100 and yes it is heavy will have to see how everything works out when I get it on and moving. From there my 8 year old and I started to work It took us 3 hours to get the hood off - everything is rusted solid than I had to remove the air breather to get enough room to take the hood off because the welded bracket on the front out riggers that goes across the hood (note to self remove welds and make screw on brackets). With all that said we cleaned the cob webs out of the distributor filed down the points and got spark right before we got called in for dinner. Going to change the, oil prime the pump and see if she turns over tomorrow. :{_}:
As always thanks for the help

Trying to think back, it's been 20 plus years since we redid the truck. Thinking we replaced the vacuum windshield wiper motor that ran off intake manifold with perhaps an electric motor powered one from J.C. Whitney.

Trucks had metal arms from motor to wiper pivot point, cars had cables attached to a rotating drum.

i am in the process of changing my cub to 12 volt alternator.with the use of the ballest resister in front of the coil, can i use the original 6 volt coil and how should it be wired ? is there a wireing diogram availible in this forum ?

Some of the cars of the day when they first changed to 12 volts used a round voltage reducer ahead of the coil to allow use of the 6 volt coil with a 12 volt system....I have one on my 57 cub....A little different scenario but as long as its being discussed, here's 2 cents worth...Auto mechanics BOCES, class of 1964...Jeeeeeez......Long time ago....Dave

Oh yeah the voltage reducer...Available at NAPA...Really quite simple, two terminals goes in 12 comes out 6....I forgot the price, but it was more expensive than a resistor....Dave

The ballast resister will do just fine and yes, you can use your 6v coil. No need for a diagram, just connect it in series between the power wire and the coil.

ah,same here, class of 64.metelergy (welding).ok,did not know there is a difference between a ballest resister and a voltage reducer.now,to wire this 12 volt alternator system (trying to see this in my head) the bettery terminal wire on the alt.will go to the negitive side,or the positive side of the amp meter ? then from that terminal to the positive post on the starter with a #10 wire.the smaller wire being R or F will go to the off side of the ignition switch and on to the ballest resister and coil.then another wire, from the alt.battery terminal wire on the amp terminal to the ignition on side terminal to give power to the coil.did i get it right ? i do not have any lights or acc.at this time.just need the cub running to plow the garden.

Check out ignition/electrical in the how to section...I know Boss has a couple of articles in their complete with pictures and prices...Should answer all your questions....And see the whole scheme in pictures....Dave
