1975 Cub

The Cub I picked up the other week is a 1975 with serial number 247916 which is 206 units from being a "long stripe". It has been painted with a brush probably twice. I pressure washed a bunch of the yellow and red paint off earlier. I could see the imprint of a decal. It sure looks like a "long stripe" decal to me. It is silver on the sticky side and I have not been able to make out anything on the printed side. Could it be a "long stripe" decal used a few months early?

Any comments would be welcomed.

The original long stripe decal would have been lower and slightly wider. Here's an original.

Most of the long stripe decals on cubs that I have seen were about 2" up from bottom edge of the hood.

Other longstripe features to look for include, but not limited to: choke knob and cable, key start and alternator.

I know it is not a long stripe. I was just wondering if there were any of the late 75 model tractors that might have had a different decal on them. Maybe the longer decal.

It is placed higher than the long stripe on the tractor in the picture.

Boss, only the paint came off with the pressure washer. Under the decal there looks to be some grey primer and the international white color. I looked on the TM site and the long Stripe decal is 41" long, same as the one that is on my tractor. Someone could have painted it and put the wrong decal on it. I would say it happened a long time ago looking at the paint under the decal.

I looked at Raymond's data base and when he enters this tractor it will be the last one recorded before the change to the long stripes.

Maybe it was a highway mowing tractor with highway reflective tape on the hood. Might explain the yellow paint. idk

Wrong decal in wrong location. I think you have it nailed with an incorrect decal job on a repaint. Kind of like a circle Cub decal on a 1948.

Considering the "custom" paint job(s), it isn't too much of a stretch to guess that maybe they did a "custom" decal job at one time or the other.

Decal placed on a thick coat of latex paint would come off with a pressure washer.
