Rusty Cub Wheel

I picked up a 54 F Cub that the owner said his dad bought it new, and it ran when it was parked only 2 years ago  I have seen plenty of rotten rims but this is the all time winner, the only thing left is the pieces riveted to the rims still bolted to the wheel centers and a few pieces of rust stuck to the tube! The exhaust was switched to an underslung which probably save the engine as it still turned, I got it home put a battery in it, fresh carb and pony tank in less than a minute it fired up and pegged the oil pressure gauge!

I guess you ca say they drove it till the wheels fell off. Looks like a good project! Front wheel weights and a nice drawbar to boot!

Tim,
Tires hardly look used.
Must be an early '54 with the hood design.

We had our 48 nearly do that same thing. The tires had been loaded with Calcium for years and of course they leaked....Should be a fun project.... :D

Breaking the bead on that one should be pretty easy  no rust weld there :D

Don't you actually have to have a wheel before you can call it rusty?
