I didn't respond to this thread until now, because I didn't have the needed graphic until this afternoon. What you see pictured below is a brand new, out of the box, genuine CaseIH fuel strainer. It was never disassembled until just before this photo, so this is as it came from the factory. Please notice the relationship between the screen and gasket in the photo. Then compare it with the Parts Catalog page I posted earlier in the thread. I have never taken one apart that was not configured like this. What others may have found on their tractors may be different, and may or may not have been correct. I rest my case. Please excuse the slightly out of focus photo.

Don,I thought that was the way the new bowls I have bought in the past was assembled. Then someone said the book was wrong.I'm looking at a Farmall "H" manual now and it is opposite of your picture as was the Farmall "A" manual. I've always assembled mine just like your picture and hadn't had any problems until the last couple of years. Some say it is the poor quality of cork we are getting, get a good rubber gasket and it will work either way...

Re: HELP!? can't stop fuel bowl from leaking...
Hate to argue (actually I love to) but, I have seen several shut off valves that were warped from over tightening. The one on my cub was one. Without a gasket or screen and with a bowl that has been checked for flatness on a known surface see if it rocks on the body's seat. A little is OK but some can be warped down near the wire hanger bu really working the tightener on a soft gasket. I held mine in a drill press vice and chucked up a flat Dremel bit and made a poor but functional milling machine to rework the bowl seat. That stopped my leak.
