Carb Question.

The Carburetor on my 1964 Cub has kinda bugged me a little. when we had it running it leaked gas outta the top of the bowl replaced gasket problem solved! but for some reason it will not stay running with the choke off the second you push the choke in it quits almost. what would the problem be? What would fix Carb tare down? Rebuild?
Any Help or answers would be great. Thanks!

First try removing the main jet on the side of the carburetor, do you have good fuel flow coming out of that port? (be sure your sediment bowl is not shut off)
Next, try cleaning the main jet orifice out with a very small piece of copper wire, such as can be found in phone cable. Then blow out with compressed air.
It sounds like you may have debris in your fuel system if you have to choke the carburetor to keep it running.

Just maybe when you put the new gasket on , while apart the float might have been moved. I would check to make sure it is not sticking. Maybe not letting it get enough fuel.
Just a guess since it was apart.

Since you will probably have the carburetor apart, I would rebuild the carburetor. Disassemble, solvent soak, blow out/clean all passages, then reassemble. Bench test with rubbing alcohol.
May not need any new parts, just a good cleaning.
