Farmall Cub

Hi all - well I went for price and paid the price. I ordered by battery box from OEM, while it's made well it's only 15.5 gauge steel . It's made well and it's the correct size, comes with all the parts - but darn it....Perhaps this newbie will pay more attention to all of your advice, next time.

So what's wrong?

From my previous posts and replies from the experts the boxes made by the smaller shops are 14ga steel which is the original. In the end I saved $50, so I guess I should be happier - just wish it was closer to the original....

I can't see the purpose of battery boxes. I am on flat land so the battery stays put. Tool boxes are handy but don't have a battery box on Mighty and doubt it ever will. If you think the OEM one was well made but just a lighter gauge steel be happy you saved 50 bucks.

Your rear light will be waving to everyone behind you, as the bracket, and the box its attached to, are light metal. Ed

Ok Ed, now I see a purpose for the battery box to attach the rear light...expensive light bracket in my book. lol

Hi gents - I am please to report that the back light mount and hardware provided are heavier than I would have expected. The primer job was well done. The tool box that came with it fully painted is very nice.

The "correct police officer" lives 3 miles away. Probably takes bribes...I have some H parts manuals for that

I can't wait to bring RauCub-1 to Cecil's in the fall and have the "Correct Police" take a look. This is an amazing forum - thanks so much.

I can pretty well guarantee that the "Correct Police" won't be in attendance unless Bob brings the cruiser but you will find a lot of Cub Nutz who simply appreciate Cubs

I have owned and driven cubs with no battery box, and do NOT like my pants legs brushing against the bare battery, no matter how often you wash it of it will have a little acid on it from the fumes form charging, splashing, etc. One of them had been run so long that way that the floor pan was almost totally destroyed form the acid, and the bracket that attaches the seat post was so rotted out that I realized one day the steering wheel was getting further away.
