that's neat, I am making a platform carrier for mine now. that implement lifting arm must be a lot stronger than I thought it was.

Gus:

That rear rockshaft is plenty strong. My 6 foot Outthrow Disc Harrow gets picked up pretty easily.

Bob:

Looks really good. Very nicely done. Keep us posted as you work the box blade.

Some slick set-up...Will keep this on file in the old noggin....How's the front end responding by the way...Did you have to use extra weight keep it under control...Nice job.. :applause: Dave

Looks good! I like it a lot! It should be real functional especially if you have a number of 3 point implements. I built a 3 point hitch for my JD 450C track loader (I know, it's not red, at least it's not green!) and use a box blade with it, a box blade is a very handy implement. The pic's maybe helpful if you want figure some way to apply some down force to the blade. I think it's great when people come up with practical applications for this sort of stuff like you did. I like you sway bar, I might have to replace my chains with something like yours. I agree with Rick about the attitude of the connecting points. My pivot points work nicely, nearly vertical at the front, as much as I could get them.

Keep in mind that nearly all modern 3pt hitch systems do NOT have downpressure capability.

Downpressure in most applications is counterproductive, because the more you push down on the implement to force it to dig, the more you lift up on the rear tires of your tractor, and the less traction you have.

The implement itself should be designed to pull itself into the ground. That is what the scarifier teeth are for on the box blade, for example.

The only time I have found down pressure useful is with a post hole digger.

...or when trying to move loose sod and the blade wants roll over the top usually when pushing backwards with a box blade or a back blade. I like having the option available. Once again practical application and common sense should be factored in.

Did some real work with the 3 point today. With a 30" dirt scoop, we moved 6 yards of dirt around one of our rental houses. The attachment sure looks oversized on the back of the little cub.The hydraulics had just enough power to pick up a full load of dirt. Sometimes I had to give it a helping hand and lift up on the rear rockshaft to get it all the way up. Now I need to locate some front wheel weights.

I was thinking the same thing. Nice rig! I bet it was a little "lite" in the front end. Did you have to steer with the brake pedals?

Nice pic.
