Thought so. Daddy's plow is a 309A. A 404 will pull three bottoms just fine!

Around here we'd only put a 3-bottom plow behind a 404 if we wanted it to keep from rolling down a hill.

Back when they were new they sold a lot of 404's and 424's with 309A plows. These were International 404's not Farmalls. There was only a couple HP difference between the two tractors but the 424 is a little heavier and has 8 speeds instead of 4 on a standard transmission 404. My dad said you would run out of traction before you ran out of power with a 424. It would be neat to have two of them in the same field today to compare how they perform....

I always liked a 404. Our neighbor had one when I was growing up, he was semi-retired by then but I drove it a couple times. It definatley handled better than our 424 but you missed the extra 4 speeds in the transmission!

Guess I rambled a little bit..... :D
