Mike:

The 193 really plows nicely and with the coulter properly adjusted makes the nicest roll-over furrow. I really enjoy plowing, there is a certain amount of pleasure derived from the sound of a plow running through the ground and being able to make a straight row .. row after row. Very satisfying. Enjoy the seat time.. and post pics of the coulter as is and after you fix the hinge.

OK... Here are pics from the left and right side. There is a bunch of slop in the coulter hinge...it will raise from hanging position by 5-6 inches, and I suppose that this is not good. I need to look over the parts manual for the plow to see if there is a bushing that is missing on the hinge shaft or what is wrong there. Anyway, please look over the pics and let me know if you see anything that would preclude the plow digging in until it is level. It is digging point down now and pulling very hard. To demonstrate the slop in the coulter hinge, I propped the coulter up on a rock as high as it would go. In all of the pictures, I have the coulter lined up with the point and in line with the landside.

What do you think?

Going be hard to see if the coulter is too low if the plow is propped up by the coulter with a rock. Any pix of the point? Maybe you might want to re attach the plow so it can be better reviewed.

Fast hitches are over rated! And I would suggest not getting one or any fast hitch stuff...until I get everything I need.

Sorry, Dave...only the coulter is propped up in the pictures that are on the right of the page. I did this to demonstrate the slop in the hinge, however, I can certainly take pics of the point by itself if it would help. I'm not planning on mounting it again until at least fall, though. Not much plowing left to do in western PA at this point!

Thankfully, I have a Fast Hitch on Lewis (the 1955) that I am working on. Unfortunately, my 194 plow was stolen right out of my driveway in La Crosse last year, so I'll have to buy one of those after Lewis is back in action...that'll be a while!

Thanks for your reply!

How about a closeup of the coulter mount from the left side of the plow?

I'll post that tonight for sure. I did read in the manual that the coulter will tend to ride the plow up out of the ground. I also read that I need a bushing for sure!

Mike,

I'm going to go with, 1) fix the coulter (because it needs it) and 2) replace the share.
