Farmall Cub

At Cecil's Mini-Fest in April - I advised him I'd have our Cub fully restored and over to his place for August. It wasn't too long after that - that the weather turned nice, the grass started to grow, farm work went into high-gear, yadda, yadda, yadda. Now I know why Cecil gave a wry knowing laugh in April - regarding me being done for August.

Work is now progressing at a snails pace. Darn it.

Good thing I didn't bet Cecil - Any of you suffer the same fate - when the weather turns nice?

There may be a reason or two why I am not in a hurry to completely paint a Cub again. Do you know the 'mushroom theory' very well now??

I am authorized to give the same look But it is nice to have a shiny Cub.

I only do 'has to be fixed" stuff, in the summer. Interferes with seat time, otherwise. (for multiple cub owners). Ed

In the plans of mice and men, life always manages to throw in not one, not two but multiple curve balls. I cannot remember how many times I have tried to get projects done by a specific date. So far only a couple them have been completed - the blade getting painted, hydraulics being done, splitter getting done and basic maintenance. No time yet for a restore on anything ... Be nice to have 2 Cubs running 100% never mind getting painted.

I am like Larry and Ed, paint a part as I go .. that seems to be the only thing that works

I bought my first Cub ('60 Lo-Boy) 28 years ago. 12 years ago I decided to "restore it". Disassembled it, did a few things, then needed to use it. Too late to turn back then. So I bought another Cub. Since then I've bought 12 more Cubs and a lot of equipment, sold a few Cubs and some equipment, and I still have 7 Cubs and some equipment and a Farmall 140. The original Lo-Boy is still just a rolling chassis with parts all over the barn. I use my "restoration" time to work on the other Cubs, mow four acres, clean up dead trees from the woods and loaf. Give me another year or two (or 12 ) and I might get the Lo-Boy back together.

I know the feeling!

I've had my 1970 cub in my shop since last spring, and still have a lot to do. I do have other tractors to work with, but time is something we will never have enough of. I think that if you have to hurry through the rebuild there is no pleasure in the process. Just my thoughts don't hurry, and enjoy the time that you do have with your cub.

Know the feeling....Todays the first day I've had off since coming home April 1st....Managed to find some free time to dig some anchors for the grape trellis, spread some manure in the garden, build a 60 foot tomato raised bed,plant some cauliflower ( in the rain) fix the wife's raised bed containers, and some odds and ends... Dave....And a few errands also....

Mushroom theory - Good God - I've got a whole plantation. Enjoying it - just can't work on it as much as I'd like. I'll be posting on my latest challenge when I'm done with it YOU'LL all have a very good laugh....Here's a hint - it involves the right brake pedal, platform and bushings....
