Rain Day - Wash-Out
Total wash-Out yesterday - PERFECT as it allowed me to spend all day on the Cub.
Put my new Sand Blasting Cabinet to work - cleaned lots of parts. Even got Dad (94) over to take turn at the cabinet.
Perhaps it will be too cold outside today to work outside - Might have to spend more time in the shop.

You know Cecil - for $209 it's not bad. I've made two modifications to it.
1. The pick-up tube for the shop vac - was sucking all the Aluminum Oxide out - because it was just a vacuum connection on the side. - I took a two-gallon plastic paint can lid, cut in at an angle, spaced it out from the wall on 1/2" PVC couplings and 3 - 1/4 20 pan head screws. I also - restricted the inlet air. Works perfectly now.
2. They had - protective covering on the glass, the glass itself, then Plexiglas - you couldn't see into the box, from the light outside the box. The protective sheet and Plexiglas is GONE.
It does need more light inside - the silly - low voltage fluorescent light is USELESS unless the shop is pitch black. I will add some high intensity lights.
Very happy with it overall.

Let me know how well you can see in it after you use it for a month or so with out the tear offs I have a blast cabinet too I like the tear offs keeps the glass from getting etched by the abrasive that you use.

Boss, I know it's gonna get scratched - the glass is easy to change and cheap. Perhaps there is better quality tear off sheet. The ones that came with this box - got statically charged and would not even wipe clean like the glass does. Where do you get yours?

Nice! A blast cabinet is a great tool, looks like your dad took right to it! I bet I could find a stack of stuff to keep him busy!

Re: Rain Day - Wash-Out
I took mine to school for the kids to use. I got to the shop one evening and they had moved it into the tool room and were using it with the room lights off and the cabinet light on. You could see just fine that way. The only problem with mine is that sometimes it wants to shoot out out little and the gun is already shot. There is an O ring that just doesn't stay in its place. I have replaced it 2 times now.

I have that same cabinet. I get my tear offs from T.P. tools and won't use it without them. You're right about that little useless light in the cabinet. Mine only worked for a couple days anyway, so I installed a pair of good lights. I also upgraded to a better quality gun from T.P.

Hi Gary, what lights did you use? Are you happy with where you installed them?

Ken,
I have issues not being able to see into my sand blasting cabinet as well. I thought about removing the Plexiglas as well and wonding what you replaced it with? Did you then us the plastic sheeting once the new glass material was installed? Thanks for any and all advice.

Joe- the plexiglas is gone and will NOT be installed again. I am not using the clear plastic sheet. The sheets that came with the box held too much dust and it could not be wiped off, like the glass can. That being said - when I replace the glass because it will get etched - I will order better quality plastic sheets.
Remember - the plexiglas is closest to you, so taking it off is not an issue. The major issue with this box is it needs more light inside.
