Farmall Cub

It just occurred to me this afternoon as I drove along the highway in a bit of rain. (No tractor in tow, today.) Should I take any particular precaution when I trailer the cub and rain is likely? Am I likely to get moisture inside the magneto? Thanks.

I would put a zip lock bag over the mag and seal it off with a zip tie or duct tape. If up right exhaust cover it also

Rain or not, if you have a Deluxe Seat, remove the seat cushion or chances are when you get where you are going, you'll be without the cushion. Also, using a magic marker, put you name and phone number on the underside of the cushion so when you do forget to remove it, you've got a chance of getting it back.

Anytime I am taking one of mine when there is a possibility of rain i wrap a couple of plastic shopping bags around the magneto and use a couple of releasable cable ties to hold in place at wires and front of magneto.

Gee... I have nooooooo idea.... and no idea why I'd have no idea...

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

You can put them in a enclosed tr. no rain,no runaway parts

while usually i park my cub inside occasionally it has been outside in the rain.... never a problem starting it, ever. well i shouldnt say that, she's cold blooded and doesnt like to start sometimes in the winter but i have never had an issue in the warm temps.... very reliable little tractors. my cub is not a trailer queen and while i maintain it properly i do not baby it. it is a tractor and i use it as such.

as far as the upright exhaust, if you have this type of exhaust you really need a rain cap. i get really annoyed when i see an old tractor with an open stack (no rain cap) parked outside. it really ticks me off. rap caps were put on there for a reason, to keep the water out and to not have one is just going to destroy the engine. even if you dont park it outside you should have one anyways, if it accidentally gets left outside you dont want water getting in there.

Most of the time a distributor is not bothered by setting in the rain unless the rain is blowing directly on it. Magnetos seem to be a little more temperamental though.
