New carburetor driving me nuts

After fighting my carb for a few years...I decided to buy a new zenith got it and installed it... The cub ran great smooth idle and high speed. Had a little governor surging got that adjusted. Took it for a ride and it had more power and was running great. Took it around the house and when going up hill to the garage it died, sounded like it was starving for fuel. I coasted down to the flat and I could start it but it would idle only, checked fuel line at carb good flow, pulled plug from float bowl got flow. Ended up putting old IH carb back on. Got it back up the hill and into the garage. I cannot for the life of me what happened to the new carb, any ideas?

My guess would be dirt/trash in the fuel tank. How much fuel was in the tank when it died on the hill?

The tank is full and clean. When I pulled the new carb apart it was clean inside.

the zeneth carb probabley has a rubber tipped needle . sometimes when they are new the needle being rubber will stick in the seat.

Thanks, Clark. I tore it all apart tonight, no dirt, trash or anything else out of place that I could find??? Since it ran for a hour or so and performed great I just can't seem to understand what is happening. Had 2 new tires and tubes go flat today too. Tire shop pinched the tubes mounting them. Steiner sent the wrong gaskets with the carb lucky I had a couple of spares. Been a bad week.

May not be a carburetion problem. Check the ignition system, could be condenser or coil breaking down. Check ignition timing and spark advance.
