Cub Poor - Now With Pic's

Well, here we go again. Picking up another Cub on Thursday. This one is currently a non-runner, but in really good shape. It comes with a 54A Leveling and Grader Blade, 193 plow, nice mower deck (not sure brand) cultivators but I don't know how complete they are. This Cub appeared on Craigslist a few nearly a month ago. I responded to the ad and went to take a look at it. I was impressed at the overall shape the Cub was in. However, being a non-runner, the seller and I were way apart on price. In fact, my offer was half of what he was asking. I kept an eye on the ad to see if it disappeared but the ad continued to run. On 2 occasions, I contacted the owner to tell him I was still interested and my offer was still good. Sunday he called me and we agreed on a price $100 more than I originally offered. :D I plan on picking it up Thursday. :{_}:

Sometimes the "wait and see" attitude is the best.

We're looking forward to seeing some pics of it when you get it home, Ricky.

Rick:

Glad you got it and for a price you could be happy with :D Sometimes we have to wait a long time to acquire our next one. For some reason folks think a Cub is worth it's weight in gold. Remember, Image

I am still waiting to see but I doubt if he is going to come down on price

It sounds like it was meant to be if it "waited" for you! :big afro:

Best of luck with it,

Glad it worked out for you! There's been a '55 Lo-boy down here for sale, about 2 miles from the house as the crow flies. It's been in the local trading paper on and off for three years. Guy still lists it with new parts and new tires, though it's been sitting now under a tarp for 4 years. I've offered him just a fuzz over 1/3 of his $3000 asking price...and it still sits..

I know what you mean: http://southbend.craigslist.org/grd/3856121323.html This one has been listed off and on for months. I offered him $1800 and got a pretty nasty response.

Rick:

That's exactly what I mean. That guy seems to be in the same place cranially as the guy across the river from me. I have talked to him a couple times and offered him what I thought was a more than fair price for the Cub in the condition it is in .. I offered him $1,200.00 for the Cub only. He told me in some not so nice words what I could do with my offer. That was about 2 years ago .. and he is still trying to sell it. Go figure :big give up:

For what is there, your offer was fair. :!:

I spent my July 4th picking up my "new" Cub. Turns out it's a '61. It has not run in 4 years. Why? Well that is yet to be determined. However upon inspection, it looks like a low hour Cub. There is little to now wear anywhere that I have found yet. I have no doubt the tires are original and show most of their original tread. To help load everything up, I took my '53 with the Cheap and Dirty lift boom. It sure make everything a lot easier. Without it, I'd probably still be there loading.

Image

I had hoped to pull the "new" Cub up onto the trailer but a lack of traction foiled that idea. Instead, I used a come-a-long to pull it up.

Image

The Cub came with the Leveling and Grader Blade attached. The blade is in very good shape but is missing 1 piece. In it's place is a home-made substitute. After unloading the Cub I power washed it to get many years of barn dust off of it to get a better look at what I've got. The pictures below were taken while it was still wet so it makes it look better than it really does.

Also included in the purchase was a mower deck. Maybe you guys can tell me what it is. I don't see any tags but it is in very good condition and doesn't seem to be used much.

Image

A 193 plow also came with it. Again, very good condition showing very little use.

Image

As well as a front set of cultivators. I don't know how complete it is yet.

Image

Image

A swinging drawbar was a surprise that I wasn't expecting but it was hanging on the wall of the barn as well as a substitute drawbar. Can someone tell me what the additional brackets are on the substitute drawbar?

A set of manuals completed the purchase.

Image

It was a busy day and this old man had to take a break and sit on the swing drinking a cold lemonade. But the scenery was good.
