No movement, awful clatter from bell housing

Postby Matt Kirsch » Tue Jul 02, 2013 12:41 pm

A week ago, I took the '53 and sickle mower out to the flying field to knock down the tall grass around the runway.

Got 1-1/2 times around the first small section when it started making an awful clatter up in the bell housing. It makes a continuous clatter while running, and won't move on its own.

I had to drag it back to the parking lot on the end of a chain and push it up onto the trailer...

I had the tractor all apart over the winter to do the rear main seal, and everything looked fine. Not sure what's wrong but I'll take any bets on what it might be.
