About a week ago, I asked for help with my Cub, Sgt. Dewey. He was stuck in reverse. Many thanks to those who responded. I opened the top of the transmission up, noticed a loose fork, tightened a bolt, closed it all back up, and the Sarge is back to work! Your suggestions helped me to see that even I could affect the needed repairs.
By the way, I owned a 1970 MG Midget for over twenty years. It was a fun, easy car to work on. The motor was simple. Alas, the Midget is gone, but now I have a new "tinker toy."

Re: Back to Work!
Glad that you were able to solve the problem and thanks for reporting back as to what it was and the fix. Feels good to be able to fix it yourself doesn't it I do know that feeling .. a non-mechanic doing mechanic type stuff ..

Good to know. Thanks for the update on the repair, don't always know how things worked out. Glad it was an easy fix.

Re: Back to Work!
I actually had very few electrical problems with my Midget. Coincidentally, I did have a transmission issue, though. Midgets are famous for their non-synchro first gear. ()You don't just jam it into first. I learned that early on, but after many years, I finally did lose first and reverse. I drove that car for 3 and a half years before swapping the transmission out. You can bet I parked strategically! I am so pleased that Sgt. Dewey's transmission issue was so easily repaired.
