TC Question

Does leaving an attachment (specifically my Woods belly mower) in the raised position when the Cub is parked place any added strain on the TC components (seals, etc.)? Is it desirable to lower the mower when the Cub is parked or does it make any difference?

Unrelated to the above subject, I have been out of touch with the forum for a week due to no internet service at my farm and I find that upon my return that there seems to be a significant delay when I am posting a topic. The delay is from the time that I click on "submit" till it goes to the next screen. I am wondering if any one else is experiencing such a delay, or might this be an issue with my computer. Actually, the opposite is true with a mower. With the mower in its raised position, the belt strain is relieved on the pulley and thus the bushing in the main shaft. It won't hurt anything to keep it raised. If it leaks down and goes to the ground with the engine off, it indicates a problem in with the o-rings in the TC. Shouldn't leak at all and the implement should stay put with the engine off...

Thanks, Hingy. I am not having any leakage problem, but I just wanted to know if leaving it raised might tend to create a problem. I guess I am OK.

Stanley, several members have had periodic delays with their posts appearing, me included. In fact some think the post didn't go through so they click the submit button again. That results in a double post that you see now and then. You have no problem with your computer. you just need to wait a bit longer once in awhile.

I wouldn't advise using WD-40 on a keyboard. That is only good for displacing any water you spill on it while typing. If you have sticking keys I would try using Kroil.

I always put the implement down. Actually, what ever position retracts the cylinder is more true.

The reasons I do this are not about pressure on hydraulics (heard this all my life but aren't they built to take pressure?),
or strain on the belt (do you loosen the fan belt on your car every time you park it?),
or having the implement off the ground in case you need to roll/drag the cub (living dangerously there I guess),
or anyone of probably a dozen other reasons.

The real reason I always retract the cylinder is so I can reach the gas shut off valve easier.

the manual recommends leaving the touch control in the down position to protect the piston form dirt, moisture, etc. if you have it parked inside it is not much of a problem, unless it has a really heavy load on it. Of course my advice is worth what you paid for it.

Regarding the slow down, I am seeing it at present.
