Check the coil wire and make sure that there is a bright blue spark from the coil to the distributor cap. Then check each spark plug and wire to make sure the spark at the plug is good and strong. If no spark, check the points to see if they are burnt or corroded as well as the inside of the cap for moisture. That is a good start.

Then the answer would be -- Coil :!: The spark needs to be a bright blue. Time to get a new coil.

Condenser. Conduct a complete tune up.

Voltage check at terminal on side of distributor, looking for near full battery voltage with ignition points open.

Ive bought some new plugs and plug wires but when the ignition switch is pulled out. the coil gets hot. doesnt that mean that it works?

No. That usually means that the coil is toast. But as Eugene said, check the condenser as well.

Where is the condenser located? I am getting a purpleish blue spark now though.

Item # 6 in the parts diagram below.

Coil/condenser are probably cold now which explains the bluer spark. When hot the spark is yellow if present at all :?:
