Hood Nuts Gas Tank at Dash

While preparing the underside of the gas tank for priming, I noticed 3 nuts welded to the tank frame, yet the hole on the right side front (at gas tank) appears to never had a nut welded there.

Is there supposed to be a nut welded there?

If I am not mistaken, there should be four welded nuts at the rear of the tank for attachment to the instrument panel, 2 welded nuts on each side of the front to attach the doglegs, and 2 wire harness clips along the right underside for the battery cable and other wires. Finally some had a hole on the right near the welded seam between the tank and hood. This had another wire harness clip attached with a bolt.

Hope this helps.

One space is left open without welded nut in order to install this wire clip.

My 47, 48, and 49 all have 3 welded nuts, with the front one on the right being just a hole in addition to one near the seam as was mentioned to allow mounting the wiring harness clip Bighoss showed. I have seen some with those clips spot welded to the tank, but none of mine are. The welded ones may have been the tanks for the short eared support, I do not remember for sure.

Ken, your hood is correct, the other nut is welded to the wiring harness clip

Ken, thanks for asking the question....I have mine off also, and wondered why I had one hole and 3 welded nuts.....Mine just has a nut and bolt with no strap, so I was a bit stymied....Strap must have gotten lost since 57.....Easy enough to make one.... Dave
