Anyone know where I could find a Woods 42 Fast hitch mower parts manual? I need the bushing or whatever it is called that fits inside the driveshaft cover to keep it from rattling and making such a noise. Not sure what model the mower is but I think it is CF-1.

BR click manuals at the top of the page and go to OEM equipment manuals.

To supplement what Cecil wrote, the owner's manuals include the parts diagram and list.

getting close but no cigar, Bob. My model has a square drive shaft and two wheels on the deck.

BR,

Get onto the Woods web site and request the manual you need.

I have the same set-up, but my drive shaft is rectangle, allowing only two insert options that I believe keeps the u-joints in phase. Mine vibrated quite a bit too, but there was a lot of wear in the pto yoke. I re- indexed it about an inch futher onto the PTO shaft for a better fit and it helped a good bit. It still vibrates some, but I suspect the drive shaft halves are just worn out.
I don't know of a bushing in there.......but not a 100% on it.

Billy Ray, there are 2 different Woods fast hitch models. 42F and RM42, they are very different. Easiest way to tell is the FH 'point', a 42F it's part of the whole assembly and the RM42 has a '3 point' adapter point.

Woods pulled a lot of their manuals off their site. If you want I can send you a PDF of the 42F manual (send me a PM).

Billy Ray:

Woods 42 F-4 for Farmall Cub with Fast Hitch

Larry:

Is that the one you have? If not .. can you send me a copy of yours please? I thought I had them all but could have missed a couple..

Yep and yep to Rudi and Bob.... that is the same manual (1959) as what I have. And more than likely the exact same copy, as I got the manuals 'load' from Bob in the first place.

Not sure why Woods pulled the 'non-current' manuals from their web site. Probably a lawyer involved??

I really need to get after the guy that's painting mine.... been a while and I could (in theory) mow with the 77 when I finish painting the fast hitch. It's mostly got new yeller on it, but probably should paint it to match the red Cub.

I sort of thought so.

I am not sure why Woods did that, I am just glad that I downloaded all of them before they disappeared.

I'm not sure Mr. Billy Ray got his issue solved with his mower, but since I was having a similar issue, I've taken a few pics and was wondering if the plastic disc located toward the end of the shaft was the bushing he was referencing.

The shaft on mine was worn where the two pieces ride, with as much as 1/8 inch gap. This caused a lot of flex during use and set up a vibration that actually broke two welds on the pulley shroud. That generated a pretty good rattle. However, I did a "field repair" and shimmed the keystock portion of the shaft with weld and shaped it back with a grinder. Also welded the shroud back together. Now there's no vibration and no noise. However, the shaft will have to be replaced because the tubing part of the shaft will wear where the weld is. Might finish out the mowing season with it though. :)

I think you found the problem, Harold, Do you have a permanent fix or do you think we can order the discs from Wood? I still cannot find it on a parts list.
