CubFest project and parts suggestion

Postby George Willer » Fri Jun 03, 2005 12:25 pm

I've got the tractor I intend to bring up and running... and If I don't find any more major problems like I did yesterday it will run fairly well. The carburetor needs some help and maybe we can pull it off and check it out. The other thing is that it isn't charging. I can check both these things out here, but maybe we'll all get more out of a session at CubFest?

The other idea I have is does anyone have an extra battery charger ot two? With so many of us using electrolysis for parts cleaning it seems like battery chargers would sell like hotcakes!

Now, to take the camera to record the success or failure of my wheel weight installation.... 8) :)

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Rudi,

I took a few pictures of the weight installation. They're on! :D

Open this picture site and scroll down to to the "installing wheel weights" icon.

George:

Nice pics :!: :D

Can we put it together as another one of your excellent how to articles?

Other question - Is that a 12v motor under the bucket I see on your crane? How did you do that? How difficult is it? Can almost any shop crane be modified to accept electrics?

Rudi,

You saw right. It's a hydraulic pump unit salvaged from a pallet truck many years ago by a friend and it lived in my junk piles for years waiting for a suitable job to do. Very similar units were used on truck mounted snow plows. The only question would be how cylinder size relates to pump pressure. I retained the hand pump to use in case the hydraulics couldn't lift the load but haven't had to use it.

I'm really pleased with the conversion and use it a lot. The reason for the bucket is it lives outdoors most of the time.
