Today, i realized i forgot to put the shroud on the radiator before i put the radiator on and let the sealant dry...
Idea 1:cut shroud so it fits around fan and weld back together. Dad and my heart said no.
Idea 2: take off fan and put solve it like a rubics cube. again, after fiddling with a pint size socket wrench for over an hour i find out it still wont go on.. no matter what. also to make matters worse... i now find out there is a bearing and seal that are held together by the same screws that hold the fan on. that seal is now spewing oil on the new paint...
now i get to take the radiator off all over again and put on a dinky piece of metal where it belongs.
this kinda stuff really bites me in the butt...
if anyone knows how to get the shroud on without takin off the radiator please let me know.
moral of the story: RTFM
i also saw a possum today...
also painted rear wheels/weights today.. pics will be posted tomorrow hopefully.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

unbolt and hinge the generator to the side. Remove the air cleaner. Raise the fan/pulley assembly up and out the left side carefully. Put the shroud around the fan and reinstal fan and shroud together. Taht is the smae procedure necessary to replace a generator belt if you don't want to remove the radiator for it.
You have the fan bearing to full of oil. there is no seal in it. After it is reinstalled turn it so the fill screw is on the right side. fill it with oil. continue turning it so the screw hole is donw and let it set until it stops dripping. Wanna know how I learned thsi lesson?

Phil, the artist who is making the new rubber parts, gave me his original fan shroud... he had bought a replacement on eBay. Someone had trouble and didn't know how to install it and therefore had cut about 6" out of the bottom side. Thanks, Phil.
I successfully added a new bottom to it and have it installed on Rambo. Check it out at CubFest.

Dag,
I forgot to tell you how to install the shroud.
Unscrew the fan shaft from the nut so you can remove it all as a unit by sliding it up and out of the front cover casting slot. Put the shroud around the fan blades and put the assembly back in place as a unit. You'll have to have the shroud back far enough to allow the fan blades to straddle the upper radiator neck so the shaft can go high enough for the shaft to enter the slot. When the fan assembly is back in place with the belts in their pulleys... then it's time to fasten the shroud to the radiator supports. See! It can be done without cutting the shroud or removing the radiator.

Everybody covered the procedures. We still need to straighten out the moral, which is RTFM.
The Owner's Manual tells how to oil the fan hub and makes it clear that it is an oil reservoir. Onbolting the fan from the hub will drain it.
