First of all, make sure of what mower it is. People have a habit of confusing Woods 59 with Woods L59. I've seen some selling a mower and calling it L59 even though the deck clearly says 59 and vice-verse. I guess it's like calling all soda "Coke". But the two are different in several ways. The L59 is designed for PTOs like the SA that will spin the mower blades in the CCW direction, throwing grass to the left. The 59 is designed for PTOs like the Cub which will spin the mower blades in the CW direction throwing grass to the right. Not a big deal, unless you realize this means different blades and different spindles on the deck. Again, not a show stopper, if you want to put a L59 on a Cub, you can get the CCW blades and tighten the blade bolts extra tight so they won't loosen up and throw the blade. The 59 blade bolts tighten to the right and the L59 blade bolts tighten to the left. And under to deck is a grass baffle, located right center on the 59 and left center on the L59. Other than that there is no difference between the two.

If it gets to 6 inches tall and thick, you'd probably have to mow in first, but a healthy cub should be able to handle it, even if it is up a slope.

Agree with bythepond88. I mow lawn and even field grass all day long with Merlin and his 59 mower. Grunts a bit going uphill in the field, but gets it done. If your Cub is tuned well and not worn out, it will pull it, and the grass will look GREAT. I love the cut of my Woods 59...
