Wedges are used to stableize the front end. Go to the search function and put wedges and you will find pictures and more info.

After making these adjustments (inner or outer) you need to run the steering fully from side to side to make sure there is no binding. This can happen if the balls are worn out of round.

You have to pay close attention to the parts manual on this. On Lo-Boys only, serial # 4802 and up, the zerk is 3/16 straight drive type. Available at NAPA. I needed one on my Lo-Boy as the hole was full of grease and dirt and no zerk. Took some extra digging through the parts manual.

I would not have known that but for needing one. When I cleaned out the hole and couldn't find any threads I dug deeper in the manual.

Zero fitting is 1/4-28. Just a straight thread. Will work just fine.

If these are straight drive type, how do I get the broken off piece out of the hole? Do I need to drill it out to the correct size? I guess I could go to NAPA and buy one and mike it and use a slightly smaller bit to ream the hole close? Now I need to go figure out how to adjust the tie rod ends with a screwdriver? Where do you all find pictures of this sort of stuff like someone did earlier on this thread. That was a great help for me?

Take the assembly apart and use a small punch to drive it out the bottom.

Thanks again everybody. I got all of it tightened up and it feels like a new tractor now. Its tight and smooth and easy to turn without any tight spots side to side. I appreciate all the help.

Spray "shout" degreaser does a good job sometimes??!! Dusty B (my wife has lots of experience taking grease out of good clothes)
