Hi all. I've been working on my '48 Cub to update the wiring. I have the 6-volt cub with Magneto. I purchased a new wiring harness for it from Brillman. I also installed a new 4 position Cutout light switch, a new starter lever switch, new Magneto J4 coil cover, new 6-volt cutout, new spark plug wires, and a new 6-volt rear combo light assembly. I have everything wired up and the headlights are working but the rear light is not.
I wired the system as follows:
headlamps to the 4 position light switch (position #3)
taillamp to the light switch (position #2)
ammeter "-" terminal to light switch (position #1-fuse connector)
ammeter "-" terminal to relay (cutout) "Bat" connector
ammeter "+" terminal to starter
generator "F" to light switch
generator "A" to relay (cutout) "Gen"
ignition switch to magneto
I've attached photos too. There are two other wires that came in the Brillman wiring harness kit that I did not use. They are:
Light switch to ignition system (with battery ignition only)
Coil + to distributor (battery ignition only)
These were a little confusing to me, but I assumed that if I had a Magneto (even thought the tractor has a battery and it won't start if the battery is drained) then I did not use these wires. Is that correct?
Any ideas of why the brand new rear light with brand new wiring would not be working? Thanks for your help!
