My High School Ag Power Class and FFA Chapter is attempting our first class/tractor rebuild project this year. We are doing a 1951 Farmall Cub project tractor we purchased from Brian Bequette over the summer. After some safety training and background information we have begun the project. We had some corrosion in the fuel tank so we took the hood/tank off and rigged a craftsman lawnmower tank and new fuel line to the carb. After cleaning the main jet in carb. and replacing the spark plugs we got it to start today and run. Now to get it to run right. The throttle linkage going down the backside of the carburetor inside near the motor and to the governor linkage doesn't seem to be adjusted properly. linkage binds and will not idle up on fast idle all the way. Isn't there suppose to be a governor spring there as well? I got home too late to go outside and look at my 52' cub as there is no lights in the storage shed. As you can see in the picture there were several smiles from the group after they got it to start and run. Kid on the seat is Mr. Green when it comes to tractors but funny how he always wants on the seat every chance he can get, red must be rubbing off on him. He wouldn't smile said he would if it was green. Any thoughts or suggestions on linkages.
Thanks,
Chris

make sure the pivot arm on the side of the governor is free and moves with the throttle rod, the spring is hooked to that arm, make sure the spring is good, they get stretched from old age
