Ugly is finally getting a make over

I have been working on my 75(Ugly)for a couple of weeks. I am finally getting around to painting her. I have rebuild the hydraulic pump and touch control unit. I Installed one of the Permatex electronic ignitions and converted it to a 1 wire alternator. I think I have everything adjusted and working properly now so it is time to paint.
I was shooting for finishing it up by Friday but decided yesterday that I was not going to make it. I had planned on taking it to Dothan Alabama to Heritage Day at Landmark Park this Saturday and ride in the parade.
BR and Roy called yesterday and convinced me that I was not going to finish it in time and I that I should go with them Friday to Dirty Red's and see the new twins. So that is the plan.
I will post more pictures in a few days.

How long did it take to get your cub to that stage of the makeover?

I would guess I have a couple of hours in tear down and 4 to 5 hours pressure washing, degreasing, scraping and stripping so maybe 5 to 7 hours. I still have some more scraping and then a lot of sanding to do yet.
The getting ready to paint part takes the most time. After I start priming and painting it goes by pretty quickly.

Hey Tim, I should have asked this in my post of "Federal Safety Yellow", but I forgot. What color are you going to use for the white parts on this cub?

Did the chrome hub caps make it faster?
Good so far on the overhaul!

Getting the red paint off was not as bad as I thought it would be. I guess the bright yellow that someone brushed on before the red maybe made it easier to remove.
Poor little Cub!
Mr. Mike, I am going to try to not let BR rub off on me! Thanks for the warning.
I am painting it yellow. I was not too fond of the federal yellow myself to begin with(I painted my first 71 red and white) but, it kinda grew on me. I painted a freind of mines 72 model last year and it turned out really well. I decided after that my next square nose project would be yellow.
No the wheel covers did not make it any faster. It sure snazed it up though!

This is the 72 model before and after pictures.
I hope Ugly turns out as well as Mr. Henry's did.

Mike,
We'd be happy to add you to the mix and really mess him up.
Looking forward to seeing you soon, pal.
