I've seen Cubs do a lot of work, but this is the first time that I have seen a "Marine Cub" doing this kind of work! Wonder how long the seals in the rear end will last when doing duty like this! lol

That isn't deep enough to cause any problem with the back end. The troubles will crop up with the front wheel bearings. If they do that routinely, it would be wise to add a grease zerk to each front dust cap and grease it frequently.

This reminds me of when we had half the farm under water in the late 1950's. Our primary mode of water transportation was an old F-20. The drop axles of the F-20 are similar to those on the little Cub. It was a pretty good arrangement for water half way up on the rear wheels. Didn't seem to matter to the 20.

assuming that is salt water, it will do a lot of rusting before it's time unless a lot of care is taken to clean it after each use.

I had a cub in water up to the oil pan one time many years ago in a flood.. drove it around all day in water.. Sometimes up to the floor pan. never hurt a thing. But it did have all new seals through out the machine and a electronic ignition that water didnt seem to bother.

Won't the water get into the finals through the brake rod openings? This just doesn't seem ok. It's not a humvee with a snorkel!

Depends on how long and how deep. The seals on the top shafts are intended to keep oil in, and if in good shape will keep water out for a while. It should run out the drain holes as soon as the top part of the finals are above water level.
