Deluxe Seat Arm Rests

Postby Bob McCarty » Thu Oct 31, 2013 3:42 pm

Looking for some data before I start a new project, (not making arm rests). :D

Thanks, Bob

Over the last year or so I've owned 3 Cubs with the Deluxe Seat. One had arm rests the others did not.

Never saw before seeing on forum. Wifey got me a four piece refurbish set. Don't know how I managed without armrests. Especially when plowing. One thing I'm doing to armrest is taking out the screws on top and grinding the point off before putting back in. When putting weight on the armrest to get up I could feel the point. TM makes a great product, this just makes it better.

They were not on the lo-boy when I got it. As a matter of fact it was some homemade hodgepodge wreck. Not fun at all to sit on and down right ugly. I left it that way for awhile. My father in law loves the machine and likes to help me out. So with a generous gift from him I splurged and went for the whole package...back, seat and arm rests. I'm glad I did- very, very, comfortable.

Who is selling the arm rests, now that TM doesn't?

Don, Steiner is the only place I have found other than EBay.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Anybody out there had any experience with fabricating a back and armrest frame? My new cub has the angle iron base with no frame. Any chance of modifying another tractor's seat to fit a cub? If I had a pattern or dims of one, I might try to fab one. I will keep it a secret because with my track record, I will scrap a lot of steel in this process.

Thanks for the link, Bob. I missed that one from Ricky. That is stronger than the original. Roger's wife Shelby has made cushions and backrests for tractor seats in her upholstery shop.

I used a TSC Universal seat on my 57 low boy with arm rests...(Picture on the Photo site of Cubby and Chompers)...Makes a huge difference with my back problem...You can shift around using the arm rests..I turned the top bracket on the tractor upside down and end for end then redrilled it to fit.... :D Dave (90 bucks or so)

I've never seen these armrests before I started following the forum.
